Meet Isabel, a modern philosopher who investigates a suspicious death in Edinburgh
Members chose this book to our reading list when Alexander McCall Smith was in Australia last March. Rather than read one of the famous novels in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, which was made into a successful television show set in Botswana, we chose The Sunday Philosophy Club, another series of books. These books feature Isabel Dalhousie, who lives in Edinburgh and is the part time editor of a philosophy journal. Upon witnessing a man fall to his death from the balcony of a concert hall one evening, Isabel followers her irrepressible curiosity to find out if the fall was just an unfortunate accident or murder.
